The new version, upKeeper 4.7 includes new functions, performance enhancements and bugfixes. The most important functions and bugfixes are listed below. For a complete list please read our detailed release notes which can be found at the ftp site.
New features
These are some of the new features.
Application installation condition
Now you can specify a precondition that has to be meet for the installation to proceed. The precondition is specified as a WMI query and should return data to be acknowledged as true and the installation can execute. In this new version we have also added a function where you can specify process name(s) that should not be running during an installation. If a process is running you can decide what the system should do: wait, kill process or interact with the user.
If the application has the property “Is postponable” set and the end user chooses to postpone the application the action will be logged for the administrators to see.
Application rollout performance
In this version you can set a random offset on applications. When an application with random offset is added to a group of computers, the computers will get individual installation times for that specific application. This will spread out the load on network and distribution points.
More information about the computers
You can filter the computers listing in many ways and in this version we have added the opportunity to filter by serial number. This works in the administration web as well as in the API.
Inventoried computers will show connected monitors and printers under the general tab of each computer.
More efficient and secure administration
When you like to be able to switch between organizations or compare different settings in different organizations you can, in this version, open your organizations in different tabs. Each tab in the browser are separated and can show different organizations or different objects in the same organization.
Now you can have a higher level of security on service users who do not have multi factor authentication enabled. You just add a specific ip address from where that user should be able to get access.
Bugfixes
These are the major bugfixes in this version.
AD groups read only mode
In this version you can delete AD groups from groups listing and you can not rename AD groups in upKeeper.
Better performance
We have added a couple of indexes to the database to increase performance in web interface. We have also updated data handling in client communication to decrease CPU usage on Client API servers.
